The nursery manager Sophie Brooks has been in childcare for 5 years and is the nurseries SENCO and Safeguarding Lead.
Sophie will be over seeing Hollesley Community Nursery as well as Old School House Community Nursery in Eyke.
The nursery is part of Alpha Community Nurseries and is group of small community based nurseries offering high quality, home from home child care and benefits from being part of a small group with an extended network but retains its own individual identity and community feel.
Hollesley Community Nursery is a purpose-built room, and is able to accommodate a maximum of 24 children, age 2-5years. We have a secure garden, the gate is always locked during session times, and the garden is accessed by the children at all times and during all weathers. The staff often go on nature walks and exploring the environment.
At Hollesley Community Nursery, we feel that the children benefit greatly from learning through the outdoors and that this further enhances the children’s development. The nursery also has close links with the local Children’s centre and we work closely with other childcare professionals, including Health Visitors.
Hollesley Community Nursery provide a nurturing environment that encourages development and achievement, in close partnership with parents. Every child is valued as an individual, and all activities we offer are based on their individual needs, age, and stage of development.
The Nursery is all inclusive, and offer support and specific help to those children that have specific learning needs and English as a second language. The manager is trained Special Education Needs Co Ordinator. All staff are trained to Level 3 or above, paediatric first aid trained and all have a food health and safety certificate. There is also a designated safeguarding lead to ensure safety and equality at all times. Staff are required to attend regular training, we feel that by enhancing our own learning, we can give the children the best start in education.
Hollesley Community Nursery ethos is that parents are the first and most important educators in their child’s life, as such it is of paramount importance that they endeavour to build strong relationships between home and nursery and ensure that parents are consulted regarding the development and learning of their child.
